I did and paid for it for five years without using it. When I finally got myself on track, I used it 2-3 days a week along with eating healthier. And, loved it. I used the recumbent bike and the treadmill, and took water aerobics. I had to cancel due to financial problems.

I highly recommend joining a gym. They aren't nearly as intimidating as some people seem to think. The majority of people there won't be concerned with what you're doing; they're all trying to get their exercise in and get on with their day, too! :) The range of classes is great. I didn't start to seriously lose weight until I started taking a few weights classes and combining that with a lot of walking on the treadmill, primarily, and the occasional attempts on the cross-trainer. It's a great motivating factor, too, because once you've dragged yourself there, the whole environment is conducive to actually working out, unlike at home where the computer, the TV and the couch look so much more tempting!
